WordPress how-tos
How do I make my Google Business Profile and WordPress website work together?
Add your website address to your Google Business Profile, and make sure your business name, phone number and service area match exactly on both. Then link from the profile to the page that fits the search (often your homepage or a main service page), and put the same details and a map or directions on your website's contact page. Together they give Google and your customers one consistent picture of your business.

Why the two need each other
Your Google Business Profile is what people see in Google Maps and the local results. Your website is where they go to learn more and contact you. When the details match, it is easier for Google to connect the two, and easier for customers to trust what they see.
Step 1: Claim or create your profile
- Go to business.google.com and sign in with the Google account you want to manage the business with.
- Search for your business. If it already exists, claim it. If not, create it.
- Choose the category that fits your main service, for example "Roofing contractor" or "Electrician."
- If you work at customers' locations and do not want your home address shown, set it up as a service-area business and list the towns you serve, such as Sisters, Bend and Redmond.
- Complete Google's verification step. The method varies by business.
Step 2: Make your details match
Pick one version of your business name, phone number and address (or service area) and use it everywhere.
- On your website, put the name, phone and town or service area in the footer so it appears on every page.
- Use the same phone number on the profile and the site.
- If you list a street address, write it the same way in both places.
- Fix old listings on other directories if they show an old phone number or address.
Step 3: Add your website link
- In your profile, edit the Website field.
- Enter your full address, such as
https://yourbusiness.com/. - If you have one main service, you can link to that service page instead. For many businesses, the homepage is a sound choice.
- If you want to see visits from the profile in your analytics, you can add tracking tags to the link, for example
?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gbp.
Step 4: Make the website back it up
On your WordPress site:
- Create a clear Contact page with your phone (tap-to-call), email, hours and service area.
- Embed a Google Map or link to your profile's directions if customers visit you.
- Use the same service names on your site as the categories and services on your profile.
- Create a page for each main service. See our article on writing service pages.
- Optional: an SEO plugin can add LocalBusiness structured data with your name, phone and area.
Step 5: Keep the profile active
- Hours: update for holidays and seasons.
- Photos: add real photos of your work, team and vehicles.
- Posts and updates: share offers or recent projects.
- Reviews: ask happy customers to leave a review, and reply to every review politely. Never buy or fake reviews; it breaks Google's rules.
Step 6: Link the other way too
Put a "Find us on Google" or "Read our reviews" link on your website that goes to your profile. Customers like seeing real reviews before they call.
Common mistakes
- Different phone numbers on the website and the profile
- A business name on the profile stuffed with keywords ("Smith Plumbing Bend Plumber Drain Cleaning Cheap")
- A website link pointing to an old domain or a broken page
- Showing a home address you meant to keep private
